Pros and cons

The Xiaomi mi robot vacuum mop essential (MiJia G1) is a popular choice amongst consumers due to its many pros and fewer cons. One of the key features of this robotic vacuum is the room map-building feature, which allows it to optimize cleaning routes and avoid obstacles while producing an accurate map of your home. In addition, the mi robot vacuum mop can be used to perform both wet and dry cleaning, making it a versatile tool for keeping your floors clean and germ-free.

Plus, the vacuum boasts app control via your smartphone or other devices, giving you even more flexibility when it comes to scheduling and usage. Finally, at a low price point compared to many other robot vacuums on the market, the mi robot vacuum mop essential is an excellent option for budget-conscious homeowners.

However, its navigation capabilities are not as advanced as some other models on the market, sometimes leaving behind uncleared areas in its wake. Additionally, while it may offer high-quality performance in comparison to entry-level models, some users may find that it lacks heftier features found on higher-end vacuums. Despite these drawbacks, however, the pros of the Xiaomi Mijia G1 overwhelmingly outweigh its cons, making it a great choice for keeping your home clean and tidy.

HEPA filter

HEPA is an acronym for “high-efficiency particulate air filter”. It’s defined as high-efficiency particulate air by the U.S. Department of Energy, which means they have the potential to remove at least 99.97% of all dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any other airborne compounds that are 0.3 microns in size. For most particle sizes (larger or smaller), the filter efficiency rating is even better than 99%.

The filter has three layers that prevent it from clogging, ensuring a quick and easy cleanup.

One of our favorite features is that the water tank offers two different settings for different mopping tasks.

The 2500mAh battery lasts up to 70 minutes on maximum power, which is a great result.

One of the core values is caring about our products’ design and appearance.

MiJia G1 is different from other robots out there. It has a matte finish that is nicer and more discernible than glossy finishes.

Mijia g1 design

The best thing about this robot vacuum model is its strong suction- it delivers up to 2,200 Pa in max mode, which is more than most other robot vacuums. Also, unlike its sibling, the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop essential (MiJia 1C), which I tested on max mode and managed to run for up to 40 minutes, the G1 does the whole 70 minutes, which is a good result considering its powerful suction and the price.

mi robot essential suction

I did not test the robot on low power, but the manufacturer claims it can do 90 minutes, and I assume there is no significant drop in suction between low and max power.

I would recommend something other than a gyro-guided cleaning robot for big homes, but this robot would be perfect for small places with a simple layout. The robot might not finish cleaning on one charge, so when the battery runs out of power, it will return to the dock, recharge, and then continue cleaning until the task is completed. Though I still would not recommend purchasing it for larger homes. Also, remember that recharging and cleaning might take a long time.

The MiJia G1 has a gyroscope and other sensors that work together to help the robot navigate your house and clean anywhere you want. The robot builds a map of the cleaning area as it moves so that it won’t go over the same spot.

Whereas robots that wander randomly might miss some spots, the G1 covers each area systematically and is thus efficient. The only drawback is that the G1 can be a bit too violent when it bumps into objects since it lacks both cameras and Lidar.

The mopping feature to clean up

The robot has a large (200 ml) water tank to help you select the water level depending on your mode. The suction on this vacuum cannot be turned off, and it can only do vacuuming or vacuuming and mopping simultaneously. I always use the highest water flow setting, though. When the robot’s water tank is empty, it will automatically cut out after 120 minutes of usage.

The mopping performance of this vacuum is about the same as other devices with the same design. It won’t remove stubborn stains like similar models on the market can. Nonetheless, adding mopping is a great way to keep your floors clean and fresh.

The cleaner has a good performance.

The  Xiaomi mi robot vacuum mop essential handles hard floors and carpets, which is fantastic. But not as much as we expected from previous reviews of the Mijia 1c.

Robot vacuums tend to scatter debris when it comes to hard floors, which is a common issue. Overall the G1 performed well, picking up most of the debris in our test.

When the robot was tested on a low-pile carpet, it scored 96%, above average for the price. It also achieved 94% on a medium-pile rug. It did very well in the sand test on top of a low-pile carpet, picking up 79% of the sand, which is one of the best rates. When tested on a medium-pile rug, it had an exceptionally crossing ability of 17mm and maintained its results with 1C. The robot could do better on shaggy carpets and rugs.

We tested it for a variety of cleaning tasks. The MiJia G1 did well, especially considering its low price. Anyone finding themselves on a tight budget should consider the G1. It’s the perfect option to get things done without breaking the bank.

Usability

The robot actively supports the Mi Home app. In the app, you can do these:

  • Create a new task.
  • Stop the vacuum and send it to the dock.
  • Set it for regular cleaning
  • You can set different clean modes depending on the surface you’re cleaning.
  • Set the water level output
  • See the G1 in real-time.
  • There’s also a manual mode that allows you to control the robot.

The robot has no no-go zones or zoned cleaning; you can’t order it to work in a particular room. It also does not resume cleaning after recharging.

Noise level.

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Essential is a powerful robot vacuum that is perfect for cleaning a variety of different types of surfaces. At its minimum suction power, the noise level of the Xiaomi G1 robot vacuum is about 62 dB, which makes it relatively quiet compared to other robot vacuums on the market. However, this noise level does increase during acceleration mode, when the wheels are more active and make more noise, causing the sound level to reach 66 dB.

In standard mode, the noise level typically hovers around 64 dB, while at maximum power, the Mijia G1 does not exceed 67 dB. Overall, despite being slightly louder than average, this robot vacuum cleaner offers reliable performance and is a suitable choice for anyone on a budget looking to keep their home clean and free of dust and allergens.

Should you buy the Mijia G1 mi robot vacuum mop essential?

mi robot vacuum mop essential pic

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Essential is a solid robot vacuum well-suited to hardwood and carpeting. It has a sound filtration system for a quieter cleaning process. This model may be less potent than those with Lidar, but it gets the job done better than most robots I’ve tested. This robot might not be as efficient as those built for more cluttered areas, but it’s perfect in smaller homes that are laid out efficiently. It also works well for pet owners and people with long hair locks.

Whether you need it or not depends largely on your individual needs and preferences. If you need an affordable device for a smaller home, it is ideal for you. If you need something more powerful and precise, you should go for an advanced model (such as the roborock s7 pro ultra).
